Butterfly Haven by Priya, Little Stone Mosaics

This is a piece very close to my heart. 

Inspired by the vibrancy and tranquillity of nature, I created this circular mosaic entirely from hand-cut ceramic tiles. Every tile was carefully shaped and placed to bring this garden scene to life, where colourful butterflies flutter amidst a lush array of blooming flowers. The process was both meticulous and meditative — each cut, each placement, was an opportunity to celebrate the delicate details of the natural world. The colours and composition are designed to reflect the dynamic quality of nature itself. 

The ceramic pieces respond beautifully to light, shifting in tone and vibrancy as the lighting changes. In natural daylight, the colours appear bright and vivid, while under soft candle light, the mosaic takes on a warmer, more intimate glow.

For me, this work represents transformation, harmony and the interconnectedness of life. The butterflies symbolize freedom and change, while the garden captures the essence of beauty found in biodiversity. My aim was to create an immersive experience — a piece that invites viewers to pause, appreciate, and feel a deeper connection to the natural world.
