Northern Quarter Renaissance

This piece features one of Raphael's famous 'Madonna and Child' paintings sat on the steps of a doorway in the Northern Quarter, in Manchester. The graffiti and the pillars add to the juxtaposition between the modern everyday, and contemporary art, with the classical figures painted in oil on top. The Renaissance painting alludes to the old ideas of beauty and art and creates a stark contrast to the mundaneness of everyday life.
