There’s always that moment on a backstreet when the whole world seems to stop, a stray football rolling away, washing tugging on the line, and a constable doing his best to keep order while two generations insist they definitely saw the culprit leg it round the corner.

It’s a lighthearted playful scene any of us could have lived through, a mix of innocence, cheek, and everyday community that once lived in the life of many.
