Southwark Bridge
Southwark Bridge
Original acrylic painting - image size 20" x 16" - Black frame with cream mount - framed size 24" x 20" approx.
This is a view of Southwark Bridge looking in a westward direction with St Paul’s cathedral in the distance. At dusk the bridge starts a light show, an amazing sight and experience as vivid array of colours are softly reflected on the Thames. As the night darkens the lights colours and reflections become more prominent but in a beautiful, not in an intrusive, way. Southwark Bridge is a steel arch bridge that connects the district of Southwark and the City of London across the River Thames. There have been two Southwark Bridges on the site the current bridge is 244 meters long and was designed by Sir Ernest George and Sir Basil Mott and has been in place since 1921. My thanks go to Nick Fewings, whose photograph on Unsplash was my reference for this painting.
