Artists Biography – Sally Harvey Artist


I am a North Devon based artist that loves to capture the beautiful landscape of the coast and countryside of Exmoor that I’m so privileged to call my home. My artwork is tactile & textured (impasto), to try & demonstrate the rough & soft elements of the ever-changing landscape which I immerse myself in. I mainly use ink, acrylics & spray, but also combine & use other mixed media to create my individual original pieces. Using colour, marks and texture to capture the feeling and energy of the crashing ocean waves, the wind and the sounds that fill your senses and feed my soul. As an expressionist artist I create in impressionistic and abstract styles, depending on my feeling for the piece. 

I love being in the ocean as much as walking along the rugged North Devon coastline, and always feel it is important to emmerce myself in it, observing, just taking a moment to feel it and breathe in the salty air. I am a passionate about fundraising with my art for local charities, which include CRY, Ovacome, Surfers Against Sewage, RNLI & Air Ambulance, to name a few. I try to use eco-friendly and recyclable products and packaging wherever possible, so artwork will always be sent in repurposed or fully recyclable packaging so that I can ensure I’m doing her bit to minimise my environmental footprint.

My work has been featured in House & Garden magazine and several exhibitions around the UK, it can be seen and purchased online here at Goose Green, on my website, as well as The George Hotel in South Molton EX36 3AB where I am Artist in Residence, Goose Green Gallery in Altringham WA14 1DW, Forty Three in Ilfracombe EX34 9DJ, Mooryoga in Lynton EX35 6HY, Mortehoe Museum shop EX34 7DT and Hogwash Soap in Torrington EX38 8EZ.
