Collection: Nigel Gore

A self-taught amateur artist who was born in the coal mining village of Chequerbent on the outskirts of Westhoughton, Bolton, Lancashire.

Working mostly with white pastels, inks and pencil on black media, which creates the ideal background for illustrations where I try to encapsulate the bleak, yet captivating atmosphere of the long vanished coal mining industrial scenes, that are so close to my heart.

Utilising this type of media, I also create atmospheric, fine art portraits, nocturnal street scenes, highly detailed animal artwork, and historical industrial images. Having spent over 40 years as a lead Engineer and Quality Manager in local aerospace Industries, I have resumed my passion for drawing that has laid dormant for too long!

My monochrome artwork, especially local coal mining heritage scenes, re-awaken memories for families with links to this virtually forgotten industry. I currently work from home in Westhoughton and my work can be seen on my Website, Instagram and Facebook under the title of Nige Gore Gallery.
