Collection: Katy Hopkinson
I grew up in Dunham Massey, went to school in altrincham (AGS)where I did art o level.
I have worked as an orthoptist in Somerset and Sussex for 30 years.
I decided to start painting in 2019 having moved back up north following inspiration by my mother’s beautiful watercolour paintings and commissions of houses , horse’s and dogs .
I chose to learn acrylics in a local art class just before COVID started and during lockdown I relished the opportunity to practice and paint! I gained confidence doing friends horses or dogs.
I have always loved the coast especially in the south hams of Devon and am inspired to paint by the variety of rocky coves, sandy beaches and windy walks up on the headlands.
I work mainly in acrylics and use sponges , palette knives and scrumpled paper in addition to brushes to achieve the textured effects I love to create.
