Jan Peters

Jan Peters, a finalist in the “Artist of the Year 2024”, paints captivating abstracts on acrylic glass and canvas.

Jan lived in the Caribbean from an early age and the vibrant colours of the flowers and sea and the encompassing warmth inspire her to create a comfortable yet otherworldly dream-like feeling in her art.

She specialises in painting on the back of acrylic glass. This creates wonderful translucency and bewitching texture. Acrylic glass painting is refreshingly different and enhances  space by reflecting light. The acrylic glass used is resilient and UV protected so can even be hung in sunny spaces and in kitchens. More importantly it has a modernistic, seamless, clean presentation that gives these unique, one-off originals real impact.

Jan furthers her collection with dramatic surreal canvas paintings based on aspects of her original acrylic glass paintings.

Jan is a post graduate in Mathematics. The fascinating relationship between mathematics, art and music influences her artwork. Art and beauty are subconsciously influenced by our sense of proportion and symmetry which has a basis in  mathematics.
