Collection: Artique - Stephen Creely AKA SteCre
Altrincham-based Stephen was born in Sale, Cheshire in the 1960s but also has one foot in the Axarquia in Southern Spain.
He studied at Mid Cheshire College of Art after which he initially embarked on a career in Advertising & Design but his disenchantment with the industry's move into digital processes in the early 1980s led him to pursue a more hands-on career in antique porcelain restoration.
Having spent four decades honing his considerable skills - still very much in demand by collectors and dealers around the world - recent years and experiences have encouraged him to re-explore his original passion for creating his own unique art.
If a label was needed, Stephen would describe his work as 'abstract verging on surreal'. Acknowledging his admiration for the work of Pablo Picasso, since his death in the early 1970s, Stephen enjoys exploring the freedom of expression through line, form and colour, " breaking the rules" which historically were often applied to art and which have necessarily been an important aspect of his work as a restorer.
Stephen works predominately in acrylics with occasional meanders into oils, pencil and applied texture and has chosen The Goose Green Art Gallery as the first partner to show and sell his works.
Future plans include the founding of a bilingual Art School For Beginners in Spain with his wife and fellow artist /celebrant, Mia Creely.
