His work found me. In 1998 I visited a prestigious art gallery in Knutsford, Cheshire, The Churchill Gallery. An amazing piece of artwork titled UNDER AN ILLUSION stood out from everything else in the gallery. I had never seen anything like it. The main figure was completely robed, with a headdress that seemed to have a Japanese influence. The colours were impossibly intense and the patterning obsessive. At first glance I thought it was unsigned but on closer inspection saw the tile in the bottom left and the signature on the bottom right, both in exquisite magical writing. The signature read CJG ILLINGWORTH. That was the moment!!! I did not know then but that this would become the first of a huge collection I have since amassed. I became great friends with the owner Andrew Mount who in turn introduced me to the great man himself. I was hooked and spent a lot of the following years buying his artwork as and when I could afford to and going to various exhibitions which, due to his ever growing popularity were popping up all over the country. Around 8 years ago the Churchill Gallery closed, but as by then I had my own gallery in Altrincham , I bought the Churchill Gallery back catalogue containing Originals, Open Prints and Silkscreen prints, and had soon created an art\u003cspan style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"\u003e  \u003c\/span\u003egallery which became a magnet for people who loved Grahams artworks, whether buyer or seller.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e","products":[],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0623\/3509\/0893\/collections\/A_glimmering_light_1.jpg?v=1792768731","url":"https:\/\/goosegreengallery.com\/collections\/your-story-gordon-allen.oembed","provider":"GooseGreenGallery","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
